No – on-site training courses of the Business and Human Rights Academy are open for all companies interested in business and human rights issues, without having to have prior relevant operational experience and technical knowledge. However, as the on-site training courses are provided for those who may be familiar with or have intermediate knowledge of human rights, it is recommended that companies may take a foundation course on business and human rights available at the e-learning of the Academy in order to understand the overview, principles, and basic concepts of business and human rights before enrolling in on-site training.
In the present day, business practitioners are not only responsible for generating profits and income as well as delivering goods and services that can meet the needs of customers and society, but they are also required to ensure that their business operations and those along the value chains are responsible to society and environment. As part of this growing corporate responsibility, businesses need to be able to ensure that their own actions and those of business partners do not create adverse human rights impacts on any individuals. To support businesses in Thailand in integrating human rights principles as well as the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) into their corporate practices, the UN Global Compact Network Thailand (UNGCNT), in collaboration with the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection of the Ministry of Justice, the Office of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand, the Securities and Exchange Commission Thailand, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thailand established “the Business and Human Rights Academy (BHR Academy)” to serve as a practical learning platform for businesses to enhance their knowledge and understating on human rights as well as strengthen their capacity to move forward the human rights agenda and good practices in their day-to-day operations and across value chains. This BHR Academy is expected to become a training hub on business and human rights for Asia and the Pacific.

The training will be offered in many batches and cover a variety of topics, including a service for in-house training for companies and their suppliers on selected topics of human rights that are relevant to their operations and value chains.
Business and Human Rights Academy, in partnership with key stakeholders, will organize a series of dialogues on business and human rights. These include annual events on the National Dialogue on Business and Human Rights and the Bangkok Business and Human Rights Week, which aim to serve as a platform for relevant stakeholders, including government, private actors, and civil society organizations to discuss and exchange good practices on relevant human rights issues in order to drive society and business ecosystem to evolve and operate in a concrete manner with respect to human rights.
